Research Highlights:

The Shemesh Laboratory operates at the intersection of biotechnology, neuroscience, and nanotechnology, where cutting-edge tools are engineered to study and treat nervous system diseases. The team designs innovative solutions for understanding and combating neurodegeneration, brain cancers, and other neurological conditions.

A key focus of the lab is Infectious Neuroscience—the exploration of how pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi contribute to major brain diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and ALS. By engineering nano-tools and leveraging advanced molecular approaches, the Shemesh Lab investigates the role of microbes in these disorders, uncovering novel links between infection and neurodegeneration.
